March 2002 was, unfortunately, the last time I was skiing in Colorado. The trip started poorly: I was stuck in the Minneapolis airport for hours because of a snowstorm. It turned out, though, that my flight was one of the only ones not cancelled because our plane was grounded in Des Moines, IA (if memory serves).
There was a small window in the weather, the plane got into MSP, we boarded, and headed to Denver arriving around midnight instead of late afternoon.
The next day, the airport troubles were quickly forgotten. It was perfect for skiing at Vail. Mostly sunny with a light breeze. Fresh powder in the back bowls.

The next day we skied Arapahoe Basin, and the day after, we skied Copper Mountain. Then on the last day, as we were heading home, we stopped for a short hike just outside of Boulder, CO. Here we got some decent views of the Flatirons.

I really need to get back out there soon. I can’t believe this trip was over seven years ago.
