In the Park

Last Sunday was a warm sunny day, and I got out to Como Park with my camera again. I was playing around with my long focal length lens (Canon 75–300mm), some shots with shallow depth of focus, some with extreme close-ups and blurred backgrounds, and some with full focus from a safe distance.

The water lily was shot at ISO200, 1/2000, f/5.6, 300mm. The wide aperture makes the focus depth rather shallow. The foreground and background are both out of focus.

The giraffe was shot at ISO200, 1/400, f/8, 300mm. The narrower aperture increases the depth of focus although the background is still blurred making the head stand out better.

The sleepy lioness was shot standing on a bridge looking almost straight down at ISO200, 1/1000, f/9, 105mm. The shorter focal length increases the field of view allowing the whole body to be in the picture.
